Job description

  • Role: Senior Software Engineer L4

  • Scope: Technical Bar Raiser for facilitating the next growth stage of Teamleader Focus

  • Level: Senior to Expert

  • Location: Belgium, with hybrid working model

  • Timing: ASAP

Who are we and why should you care?

Teamleader is a SaaS scale-up founded in 2012 in Ghent, Belgium and since 2022, part of the Visma Group. Our goal is to automate and simplify work for small and medium European businesses. With Teamleader Focus, we simplify work for small businesses by offering an all-in-one solution for CRM, project management and invoicing. Teamleader Orbit, acquired in 2019, focuses on helping medium-sized agencies thrive. In 2022, we acquired Vectera, which provided our new Customer Meeting add-on. By joining forces, we became the logical choice for any European business, big or small, that aims to automate and simplify work.

As we’re growing fast, we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (L4) for Teamleader Focus to strengthen our team.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us on our mission

As a Senior Software Engineer:

  • You come with a wealth of experience in designing and coding future-proof SaaS products.

  • You are a key member of the engineering team and responsible for providing technical design and implementation of transversal platform functionalities.

  • You turn functional challenges and acceptance criteria into skillfully crafted and easy-to-maintain application code.

  • You use your experience to pinpoint bugs, do root cause analysis, detect bad coding patterns, identify risks and come up with skillfully crafted (template) solutions.

  • You make suggestions to improve our delivery processes and code quality.

  • You lead and participate in technical discussions, both within your team and with other teams, to come up with solutions for common problems. You are not afraid to take ownership to bring these solution to the market.

  • You coach more junior developers through pair programming sessions, code reviews... or just by asking them the right questions.

  • You monitor the build and deploy pipeline to make sure our work ends up in our customers' hands swiftly and adequately.

Who we are and how we roll
Wonder how an average month looks like working with our Engineering team?

  • Our main model of operations is to build long-lasting cross-functional feature teams consisting of a product owner, UX designer, and multiple software engineers working together on a specific initiative.

  • Our main codebase is PHP (with Slim) for most of our backend development, and React (using our own design library Ahoy!) on the frontend. But that’s a huge oversimplification for a sophisticated, DDD- and Command Pattern-centric application stack with dozens of components and micro-services.

    • As a bar raiser, these are your starting grounds. We expect you to first explore and learn, and then to bring forward proactive initiatives to improve our platform's evolvability, reliability and robustness.

  • As a part of the Visma Group, we are a software company aiming for lasting growth and success, building and operating a tech stack that is future-proof and providing a productive and pleasant developer experience.

  • Our multinational engineering team consists of 30+ high-performing but most importantly human software engineers with a variety of backgrounds and skills. We are high on culture, but also strongly committed to our customers' success.

  • We have a unique shift-left take on QA using state-of-the-art automated testing tools and QA advisors working with the feature teams during story grooming and acceptance criteria analysis.

  • Pair and mob programming are very common sightings in our day-to-day development work, not only during onboarding or for tutoring new joiners.

  • When we deploy, we create impact for our +12K customers with 50-60K MAUs. So we spend a good portion of our time doing PR reviews and optimizing the surrounding flow.

  • We do Continuous Deploys, multiple times per day, during peak business hours thanks to our clever build and deploy pipeline and a modern runtime architecture using Kubernetes.
